The
Associated General Contractors of Central Ohio originated in 1937 and was
incorporated under its present name in 1976. Central Ohio AGC is one of
only two "pure" AGC offices in the state in that it exclusively represents
AGC members. The division’s primary objectives are to promote high
standards of contractor practices and conduct, foster cooperative
relations and continue to support quality construction in the Central Ohio
area.
Central
Ohio AGC services commercial contractors, specialty contractors and
suppliers within a fourteen county area throughout Central Ohio. Since
Central Ohio AGC maintains close ties with the state (AGC of Ohio) and
national (AGC of America) offices, the division offers complete
representation and service for its members at the local, state and
national levels.
Always
supportive and protective of contractors’ rights, Central Ohio AGC has
engaged in many battles to preserve these rights. The chapter filed a
complaint against the City of Columbus Building Regulation Department that
resulted in improvements in the overall plan approval process and fewer
permit and inspection delays. AGC has successfully lobbied against owners’
no damage for delay clauses and has often confronted bidding
irregularities with various public owners, including city, county and
school officials.
In essence,
this is what the Central Ohio AGC association is about — contractors of
skill, responsibility and integrity upholding ethical practices in the
construction industry.
